Filmfare Awards
The Filmfare Awards are often referred to as the 'Indian Oscars' as they are considered by many to be the most prestigious of
all the various Indian Film Awards. In contrast to the National Film Awards, which are decided by a panel appointed by Indian
Government, the Filmfare Awards are voted for by both the public and a committee of experts. The Awards are one of the oldest in
existence and were started by the film magazine Filmfare, in 1953 and Awards have been issued for every year since, except 1986
and 1987. The Awards honour the best of popular work of the previous year, i. e. in 2006, Awards were presented to films and music
