Dilip Kumar 1922 -

Dilip Kumar has inspired everyone from Amitabh Bachchan to Shahrukh Khan. Dilip started his illustrious career in the 1940s and by the 50s, he was the biggest star in Bollywood bar none. Some of the best films of the golden period of cinema ranging from Andaz (1949), Devdas (1956), Madumati (1958) and Mughal-E-Azam (1960), starred the great Dilip Kumar. In the 1960s, Dilip was still the top Actor, but it was beginning of the end of his reign. Gunga Jumna (1961), Leader (1964) and Ram Aur Shyam (1967) were amongst his best roles in this decade. In total, Dilip Kumar has spent over half a century working in films. He is the current record holder for the most Filmfare Awards won as Best Actor, a total of 8, starting with his first won at inaugural Awards in 1953 and ending with Shakti (1982), nearly 30 years later in 1982!
